Transfiguring Bad Mental Habits

Updated: Sep 22, 2021

Have you ever been out amongst family and friends and your thoughts completely took you to another reality?

I have 🙃 Our minds is our home. It is the place we spend the most time in. Circumstances in our lives has added certain old rusty furniture 🪑 pieces to our homes… which is trauma.

Toxic thought 💭 habits causes and strengthens anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, body pains, negative perceptions of love, relationships, people, and ourselves.

So what do we do?

Well, we don’t allow them to remain. We recognize them and become intentional about changing our thoughts. YOU HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE YOUR THINKING. Yes, it will take time. But you don’t have to live your life trapped in your thoughts, constantly triggered, angry, sad, or down. You can live in complete freedom and love. You can live in harmony.

Here are the steps:

  1. Set aside time twice a day (morning and night) to meditate, reflect, and journal 📓 about peaceful things. Often we use our journals to rant. Have a separate journal just to write about what brings about peace. Take a quote or scripture and verbally repeat it.

  2. Be patient with yourself.

  3. Write down your known triggers, discover the root cause, and deal with one at a time. If you struggle with self-esteem, the forgiveness of parents, relationships, and etc. Don't try to tackle everything at once.

  4. Go for walks/ jogs and listen to calming music.

Become more intentional about what you allow into your most influential gates (eyes and ears) if it doesn’t add to your peace consider removing it.

Blessings, Equanimity, & Shalom
